The Waterberg Biosphere, located in Limpopo, is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, making it one of the rarest in the world. The area, which covers 8,000 square kilometers, is home to various ecosystems, resulting in an impressive assortment of fauna and flora in a small area. The region’s picturesque vistas, undulating bushveld, and secluded valleys make it an excellent destination to relax away from crowded tourist attractions.

The Waterberg Biosphere has been inhabited for over a thousand years, as proved by conclusive evidence. The area also contains archaeological remains of Stone Age humans and fossil remains of early human ancestors. The abundance of groundwater in the region, which allowed both animals and early human settlements to thrive, may have been one of the reasons that attracted these early settlers. The Bantu and Nguni tribes were among the first to arrive in the area around 1300, followed by Europeans from the south about 500 years later.
