With the 2024 National Elections only several weeks away, the Patriotic Alliance won two more wards in Swartland Municipality and Oudtshoorn Municipality in Wednesday’s By-Elections. In Swartland, the PA under candidate Gerhardus White, won Ward 11, previously held by the Democratic Alliance. In Oudtshoorn, the PA under candidate Bertram Jantjies, won 9, previously held by the African National Congress. However, the ANC retained the following wards in other By-Elections around the country.
Walter Sisulu Municipality – Ward 8
Moses Kotane Municipality – Ward 18
Emthanjeni Municipality – Ward 3
The Democratic Alliance, the biggest opposition party, retained the following wards
Mogale City Municipality – Ward 39
Rand West City – Ward 6
City of Tshwane – Ward 2
